My first "gig" was on a program at Park Layne Baptist Church in New Carlisle, Ohio.
It was one song, a Chet Atkins type version of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic".
I was so scared, I didn't look up from the podium and when I had finished, I grabbed my music and left my amp.
I've gotten over my shyness since then, a little bit anyway.
I played and recorded with a group named "Short Street" in the early 80's.
We recorded a twelve song tape at a sixteen track studio
which later got shelved.
I did get my hands on the master and had four songs picked up on a local radio station.
In 1988 I set up my home studio and started recording my songwriting ideas.
I had been doing mostly recording projects, when I had been asked several times,
when are you going to come play for us.
This led to me playing out once again.
I first started going out with my guitar and a microphone, then adding a drum machine.
I soon added background tracks for the full band sound.
I was getting band offers and decided to join one. It was a very good learning experience for me.
I've been working as a freelance guitarist and doing recording sessions since then.
I go to Church at Flat Creek Church in Nashville, GA.
My wife had asked me to learn the Mandolin and I got one for Christmas in 2003.
I play mandolin with the group at Church for the services.
I do solo gigs and play for the
MainStream Band".
